Explore our Collections

Southland’s Rural Heritage Centre spans several buildings, each housing local and regional farming collections and displays for visitors to explore.

Each building is named to honour a significant club member.

McKenzie Shed

Tractors displayed in the McKenzie Shed formed the basis of the Thornbury Vintage Tractor Club. They were collected when the club began in the mid 1950s. Most are pre-1920s and would have been originally purchased to replace horsepower on farms.

This shed also includes the Turnbull Corner, a collection from Pat Turnbull, wife of the late Derek Turnbull.
